It was another phenomenal season of NJAC basketball featuring four 20+ win teams, deep playoff runs, and some fantastic individual performances. Let’s take a look at which players stood out among the rest in 2023-24.
Michael Van Raaphorst – Delbarton
- A great season in his last for the Senior Michael Van Raaphorst. One of the most consistent and best guys on the team for Delby this year and a big contributor to the team’s success
Kevin King – Mendham
- A spectacular year for the Junior guard Kevin King, really turning into the player we all thought he could be. Look out for his senior year. This kid is going to be dangerous.
Michael Amador – WMC
- What a season from Amador. Breaks the WMC three-point record and leads this team in all sorts of categories. Amador came into his own this season and a heck of a way to end your high school career.
Ryan Kress – Randolph
- Yeah, this kid is hard to contain. Constantly putting up 25+ points per game and making this offense dynamic for the Rams.
Jake Miller – Randolph
- Kress’s counterpart also had a great year on the defensive side with his team-leading block and rebound totals. Heck of a senior duo they had in Randolph this season.
Christian Otufale – North Warren
- This kid was a bonafide stud this season. Any time a player gets almost 600 points, 300 rebounds, and 66 blocks, you’re doing something right and that easily gets Christian on the list.
Anthony Norelli – Hopatcong
- In a tough season in Hopatcong, this kid was a very big bright spot for this young and up-and-coming team. Look out next season for the Chiefs and Norelli because this kid is only going to improve on the great season he had.
Alex Fessel – Vernon
- What a campaign from the Junior G. He has continued to improve every season he has played since his freshman year. Is 500+ points next for Fessel? Very well could be.
Dhamir Morfe-Chess – Vernon
- Dhamir deserves so much recognition for the season that he put in at Vernon. Over 300 points and 200 rebounds as well as being a phenomenal player inside the paint.
Ben Jurewicz – Vernon
- A fantastic season for the star forward once again. Doubling all his season totals from last year and then some. What a year for the Vikings.
Maxwell Maslowski – Newton
- Maslowski was a very big bright spot on Newton this season. He really broke out in a big way in his junior campaign marking his career highs in every statistical category.
Joshua Quiles – Dover
- Quiles impressed with the ball in his hand this season, knocking down his career high in points and being a very solid free throw shooter from the line as well. Not a bad way to go out if I do say so myself.
Charlie Hurd – Boonton
- Anytime you get almost 500 points and 200 rebounds, you’re doing something right and Charlie Hurd has been doing something right his entire career at Boonton. What a career!
Michelangelo Oberti – Morris Catholic
- Yeah this guy is just gross, I mean is there really more to say than that? 550+ points 380+ rebounds and 157 blocks. These numbers are just video game-type stuff.
Kyle Dixon – Morris Catholic
- There are so many great players on MC but Kyle Dixon stood out to me in particular. Consistently great all around the stat sheet as a sophomore alone. Look out in the coming years for this kid.
Evan Colao – Madison
- Madison had so many players that just set themselves apart from everyone else, one of those kids was a 500pt player named Evan Colao. Also wanna give an HM to Tommy Bland and Jackson Maloney because they played insane as well and are a huge reason for Madison’s success this season.
Nick Canariata – Kinnelon
- This guy almost led Kinnelon in every statistical area and wow what an effort for the senior in his last hurrah. 550+ points will most likely get you on this list and in Nick’s case, it does.
Karson Culuko – Pequannock
- YIKES 680 POINTS. Jeez, this guy can hit from the perimeter like it’s nobody’s business. What a career for Karson and a heck of a way to go out!
Justin Hanson – Morris Knolls
- A great year on the offensive side for Hanson. This is a guy to keep your eye out on this guy for his senior season. He has the chance to take an even greater step forward next year to improve on the great year he had already.
Jeff Evens – Jefferson
- A solid 3-ball guy from beyond the arc, Jeff Evens took a step forward in the 2023-2024 season. A guy who won his way to more playing time had a phenomenal season in the starting role and was a big part of Jefferson’s division-winning campaign.
