For opening serve for the boys volleyball season, the Randolph Rams took the short trek down the road to face the Morristown Colonials.
After a back-and-forth start to the first set, the Rams went on a 5-0 scoring jolt to take a 19-15 lead. Of those five points, three of them came by way the service ace from Cole Cantada. Randolph took the first set 25-18.
In the second set, both teams battled early on. This time, it was Morristown’s turn to take the lead on a 5-0 run. The Colonials took a 23-19 lead, thanks to two kills from Aidan Sorsby. Morristown was able to hold off Randolph and win the set 25-22.
With the match knotted up at 1-1, we headed to a decisive third set.
Morristown took an early 4-1 lead, but that lead was short-lived. Randolph went on an 9-4 extended run to regain the lead with the score at 13-10.
The Rams broke off a 7-1 run and really grabbed control of the third set. This run was capped by an ace from junior captain Kevin Tinio.
Morristown tried to chip away, but the Rams were able to take off and win the third set 25-17 and take the match 2-1.
