A new spring is upon us, and a new season has arrived on lacrosse fields across the Garden State. In anticipation of our coverage of high school Girls Lacrosse, we will have our Top 20 rankings and coverage, broadcast, interviews, and other media around Girls Lacrosse this year. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

20. VERONA HILLBILLIES

Verona was 6-0 last year in their division, the Freedom North. They went all the way to the North Group 1 final, and as a young team lost to a senior, heavy Mountain Lakes squad. They are returning a lot of their goal scorers like incoming junior, Riley Kenrick, who scored 58 goals last year and also took 30 faceoffs as an attacker. They have young goaltending, but there was a lot of promise last year from Aubrey Paul, a freshman who had 21 saves in two games.

19. MENDHAM MINUTEMEN

Mendham has a very talented group of defenders that have a solid offensive capability. Reese Alofs scored 23 goals, playing defense and forward. Mendham also brought back Sienna Laracca, who scored 39 goals last season to add to their offense, they had a tough loss in the sectional final to powerhouse Summit but brought back a lot of their forward depth.

18. CHATHAM COUGARS

Chatham is coming off an 18–5 season where they won the Group 3 state championship. They did very well in the Morris County tournament as well, eventually falling to Morristown. The Cougars are bringing back a ton of great goals scoring experience like Addison Barrett. Barrett brings a ton of offensive experience, and a championship caliber of play as she advanced to the state championship this year in both of her other sports, soccer and basketball. She scored 39 points and also controlled nine draws, so is a very important player on the face-offs. They lose a lot defensively, but this is going to be a huge season coming up for their goaltender Elizabeth Sherman.

17. MORRISTOWN COLONIALS

Morristown had an exceptional year last year and then there’s this season as the reigning Morris County champions. They advanced to the group 4 North Final and like Mendham, fell to a major juggernaut in Ridgewood. Megan O’Brien and Caroline Condon are both coming back, and Morristown should be especially excited about Condon, being a freshman, and amassing 34 points in her first season. O’Brien controlling 55 draws as well as scoring 115 points, is incredible and will lead this Morristown team.

16. MADISON DODGERS

The Dodgers are coming off a great 15–4 season, where they advanced all the way to the Group 1 South Sectional Final. Madison also advanced to the semifinals in the Morris County tournament and lost to Morristown. They are ranked a little higher than some of those Morris County teams because of the scoring coming back. Hadley Holland, who has emerged as one of the best players in the state, had an indomitable sophomore year with 70 goals, she is only going to get better and is going to be filling the net this year for Madison as well as bringing back Gabby Mariani also hit the 50 goal mark. This is going to be a huge year for Madison as well, because both of their goaltenders, who combined for 120 saves, are coming back as seniors.

Keep an eye out for #15-#11 coming soon!
