Piscataway, NJ — 27 seconds. That’s all the time that Roselle Catholic led en route to a brilliant 55-51 victory over St. Rose on Friday. The Non-Public B crown is their seventh in program history, and second in three years, with that win also coming over St. Rose.

For those in attendance, every soul could physically feel the shift in momentum after a gutsy Trevon Lewis three-point play that gave the Lions the only lead they would ever need. The small but mighty Roselle Catholic contingent erupted in a roar that had been suppressed all afternoon long, and carried it on until the final buzzer.

Prior to that, the Purple Roses were in firm control of the contest. Superstar Jayden Hodge got off to a white-hot start, splashing 11 points in the first quarter alone, and his squad outshot the Lions 52% to 39% in the first half.

And then it was Trevon Time.

Lewis exploded in the second half, scoring 14 of his 21 points, largely off of magnificent ball control and key free throws. His team’s defense tightened up as well, holding St. Rose to just 35% shooting in the final 16 minutes while generating a dozen turnovers.

Roselle Catholic would end the game on a 5-0 run, with all the scoring coming from Lewis.

The table is certainly set for a round three between these two, with Hodges and Lewis both returning for their senior seasons in 25-26.
