Peter’s Game of the Schedule- Week 1 @ Pascack Valley
Peter Fifoot- The difficulty of Westwoods schedule has definitely risen, after such success with Bobby Koch, and losing their starting quarterback to college, there are several talented opponents the Cardinals will have to face like Caldwell and Weequahic. However Pascack Valley as a group 3 school is one that can physically play with Westwood and in a Bergen County rivalry game, their matchup will be the game of the week.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule – Week 4 Vs. Caldwell
Christian Copen- Whenever you go toe to toe with Caldwell, it’s always gonna be a fun matchup. Two teams that I’m looking for another star quarterback at the helm, and two teams that have been historically very successful. Which Rookie QB has got the edge, we shall see but this is definitely the most intriguing matchup.

Peter’s Game of the Schedule- Week 3 vs Lenape Valley
Mountain Lakes is coming off the most successful season in team history, only losing twice in the regular season and winning their first complete state championship in football history. A lot of great players will be leaving like running back Ian Redzapagic, Cosmo Fusco, but this team still brings a lot of talent back. A couple of great rivalry games to note on the schedule, like the typical great game against Boonton, but the matchup of the schedule is the week three game against Lenape Valley where they opened up against last year and ended up trailing at halftime before surging in the second half.

Christian Copen – Wow, this is gonna be fun. Two teams that like to score a lot of points on the offensive side and have tremendous run games. I expect both upcoming Junior running backs to have very successful seasons and this game is going to determine a lot. Can this former state championship winning defense in the Herd hold up to the most high-powered offenses in NJ with Weequahic? Sure we quick graduated a lot but this offense is still scary. And the Herd of course are still the herd, they can run with anyone. I’m really looking forward to this one.

Peter’s game of the Schedule- Week 3 vs Wallkill Valley
This is a rematch from last year’s game between these two teams, where the Rangers won it with two minutes left, it was a barn burner of a game, and with both teams who were young last year getting good playoff success, this matchup will be prolific again.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule- Week 8 @ Pequannock
Sussex tech had a very impressive season last year, winning their first playoff game in franchise history. And they will only continue to keep improving this season. The reason why I choose this game specifically is because there are going to be so many playoff implications on the line. Pequannock carries over a lot of returning stars from last year‘s team. Although graduating Andrew Baker hurts, you still have a 1000 yd rusher in Brian Gruber returning. He is going to be the recipe for success for the Sussex Tech mustang offense. This high leverage game is sure to be a fun one.

Peter’s game of the Schedule- Week 4 vs Pequannock
The Colts are coming off one of their best regular seasons in program history, finishing second in the division last year. They definitely will be looking forward to an important game against the school only 15 minutes away from them, Pequannock. The Golden Panthers also won the division last season, so there will be some incentive.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule- Week 7 Vs. Malcolm X Shabazz
Two teams that normally don’t play each other very often but two teams that have a very powerful offense. While Shabazz is graduating a lot of kids, they are still known to have a great team year in and year out, and on the other side, Kinnelon had a very nice season last year that they are looking to improve on. And with playoff implications on the line, certainly a game you will not want to miss.

Week 2 @ Cedar Grove
Verona absolutely has Momentum coming into this season after a revitalizing playoff appearance last year effectively ending the rebuild. Their early season matchup against their bitter rivals Cedar Grove Panthers, will be quite a test for them not only to get Group One PowerPoints, but for bragging rights and a leg up in the division.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule- Week 1 Vs. Kinnelon
Another one with Kinnelon on the list for me. I really like the direction of where the Colts are headed, but how about HILLBILLY NATION! They are for a bounce back season and I think that starts with their 2000 yard passer Connor Demasi. Look for him to continue to improve this season as well as the rest of this hillbilly squad.

Week 7 vs Immaculata
Lincoln is coming off a very solid year, an explosion of points in the final stretch scoring over 50 points in 3 of their last 4 games including winning a playoff game against Warren Hills. Immaculata offers one of the most trying tests with an elite defensive line against the Lions’ great rushing attacks.

If you like offense, this is the game for you. Two teams that were both playoff bound in 2023 that I expect to continue to improve in 2024, how much though this game will determine a lot.

Week 1 vs Boonton
The Red Hawks experience will be tested this year with a schedule that includes several unfamiliar opponents and will be a good challenge. Boonton is not one of teams, Regan had a great season last year for Parsipanny and they will have to keep up solid quarterbacking against a physical Bombers team on the rise.

With a High Point Square that is going to be much improved from last season in the Parsippany RedHawks continuation of development with their players, such as Kevin Regan, this is going to be a big test for both teams in week 3.

Pequannock is coming off a very successful regular season and a division crown. The Wing T offense is a staple in group two and Ramsey runs it as well which is good for Pequannock to play as well as a local untraditional rivalry with a cross Morris and Bergen matchup.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule- Week 5 Vs. Hanover Park
This was a huge game last year and I expect it to be another big game this year. With quarterback Joey Borrello showing big improvements, and this rush game with Dylan Roemele we’re bound for another fun one in Pompton Plains.

This is a rematch from last year and the Dodgers will be looking for revenge. Madison finished the regular season on a hot streak, they will look to start a lot better, but will have a challenge matching up the defensive line against Cole Capuzzi and Kevin King.
Christian Copen’s Game of the Schedule- Week 1 Vs. Hanover park
Madison is going to be tested straight out the gate this season. I am very intrigued to see who the new starter at QB is going to be. Will it be the brother of Jack McGuire Luke, or will they go in a different direction. Regardless, this Madison team will continue to improve and they can potentially open up the season with a statement against Hanover Park.

Last year’s matchup was an instant classic and the Hornets upset over the eventual state champions gave Hanover Park surplus powerpoints. The Herd will be looking for some revenge in an early divisional bout in East Hanover.

The Cowboys have been put into a new division and are out of the Ivy red with a lot of competition in Bergen county. In week six however, they will face a previous divisional opponent, the Dover Tigers. This will be a huge game and will scope out how these two teams are at that point of the year.

Millburn is one of those teams and the Millers are going to try to build off a season where they made the Group 4 Consolation semifinals, and it will be a great challenge for Dwight Morrow.

This is a huge rematch for two of the better football teams in Sussex County. Newton’s loss in the final game of the regular season last year to Sparta cost the Braves, a higher division title, and essentially sent the Spartans into the playoffs. Newton will be looking for revenge in a big rivalry.

This is one of the best rivalries in all of New Jersey. Given the success that the Bulldogs had last year and how their season ended to the Indians, this game will take on even more significance than it already does. The solo is extremely vital to both of these football teams, and Malcolm X Shabazz is going to be coming out flying in this football game.

Boonton’s rivalry with the Lakers is one of the purest and best in New Jersey. Both towns touch each other and is always a very tough competitive match up, and met in the playoffs 2 two years ago and this game will be a big watershed matchup for the Bombers.

Hopatcong is in their first year out of the Ivy Red and in a new division, which will combine new and older rivalries. The Chiefs are a very run oriented team just like North Warren. The two towns are not too far from each other and the early season matchup in Blairstown, will be quite interesting.

Last season Warren Hills started off with a huge defensive victory in Vernon. It started Warren Hills with their early season dominance, and one of many wins on their long, wind streak, as well as being the only regular season loss for the Vikings. Now, these two teams will meet in Washington Township, still utilizing a lot of their tough styles of physical play and like last year, the winner can use this game as a springboard for excellence.

Week 5 vs Phillipsburg
Two years removed from the Mountaineers stunning upset against Phillipsburg, the State Liners will be coming to enemy territory in West Orange. There are still a couple of players from that West Orange team, and Phillipsburg has not forgotten that playoff loss. West Orange can reciprocate 2022 while also getting much needed points with an upset.

Livingston has had very tough schedules over the past couple years. The Lancers have a lot riding on this season. There is a lot to gain hosting a same group and regional rival in West Orange. This definitely will be a huge early season test for Livingston.

Montclair came onto the scene as an offensive dynamo with transfer quarterback Bubba Lewis. They had a very tough loss to PCTI in the sectional final, and this game against Union City will be big, because the Soaring Eagles have a similar physical offense. There’s also going to be a lot to gain since both are Group 5 schools and could see each other later in the playoffs as well as only being about 25 minutes from one another, and this being on the big blue roof in Union City, will be as big as a game that Montclair plays.

Barringer had a great running game last year and that physical play as well as the performance of the offensive line helped their success last year. They will be playing against a very fast defense in John F.Kennedy, and that will be a great late season test for both teams.

And when you talk about physical, demanding football teams, both Union City and Irvington fit the Bill. Both of these teams have had many great rivalry games at that blue roof in Union City. Irvington and cam Denise side both have very similar styles of play. They both have great running backs, very physical, wide receivers and they play tough defense. Both of these teams have scrimmage in the past in the summer and four teams on the opposite side of the state. It is one of those very early season matchups that can tell you a lot about this Blue Knights football team. Coach Ashley “Smoke” Pierre, had his football team, playing tough throughout every game last year, and this promises to be another excellent season for Irvington.

This is a big rivalry between two Group 5 schools very close to each other between the ghosts and the Bulldogs. It also increases the intensity of the rivalry that a large number of Paterson natives do go to PCTI. PCTI had a big win last year against the Ghosts, and an upset against the Bulldogs could do very well for Paterson Eastside as the season goes along.

John F. Kennedy really started to show flashes at the end of the year of an athletic vicarious offense. I believe you are going to see more of this offense and the tools of its disposal as the season comes along. The Bengals are a team that has a similar record, and will be a watermark of a game to see what John F. Kennedy is capable of in 2024.

Another game of rivalry significance. The Bulldogs have had a long winning streak against their rivals from Clifton and this Mustangs team is on the come up, their offense really shined last year, despite their first round loss to Westfield. What a way to gear up for the playoffs with a huge road game against one of the best teams in the state, the Passaic County Technical Institute Bulldogs.
