TOP 5 SMALL SCHOOLS (Group I & II)

  1. Madison- The Dodgers made some adjustments after getting blown out by powerhouse Morris Catholic 73-35 earlier in the week on Monday. Madison convincingly beat Whippany Park and Hanover Park. Junior Evan Colao was the catalyst in both victories for Madison. Colao dropped 24 points against Whippany Park and 26 points against Hanover Park.
  2. Jefferson- The Falcons are soaring high in January. Jefferson played great this past week. They won three out of four games. Jefferson hung on 51-49 in a huge division showdown with Hackettstown. That win helped keep the Falcons ahead of Hackettstown in the Freedom division.
  3. Hackettstown- The Tigers have kept winning after their mini trip to Florida. Their only loss in the past week was a tough 51-49 defeat against Jefferson. Ryan Due helped Hackettstown bounce back with a clutch 25-point performance against rival Vernon.
  4. Vernon- The Vikings were rolling going into the matchup with Hackettstown. Vernon was on a four-game winning streak. Alex Fessel tried to keep the Vikings close as he put up 24 points with five three pointers. Hackettstown proved to be too much in the 56-45 win over Vernon. The Vikings will look to get back on track against Lenape Valley in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament.
  5. Hanover Park- The Hornets started out the week strong with a 73-54 drubbing of Parsippany Hills. Hanover Park lost two games later in the week by a big margin to Morris Catholic and Madison. Those teams are very good and were a good litmus test for the Hornets. They should learn a lot from these defeats as they move forward. The Hornets bounced back as they ran past Butler 75-20 to qualify for the Morris County Tournament.
