First-half goals by Chrissy Georgoutsos, Vanessa Rush, and Samantha Heinrich powered the Streaks past the second-seeded Newton Braves, advancing them to their 11th consecutive HWS Championship appearance.

The now 9-2 Braves hosted the late afternoon tournament game on Tuesday, October 8th, resulting in their first home loss of the season. Despite Newton’s first-half setbacks, they mounted a dynamic comeback, cutting the deficit to one on goals by Kaitlyn Harding and Jaclyn Vena in the quarter, both assisted by Midfielder/Defender Emma Trout.

However, it wasn’t enough, as the contest came down to a few missed opportunities by Newton’s offense late in the fourth period. Warren Hills’ defense held down the fort, led by Carli Meissner, Alena Schlessinger, and Goaltender Emma Fraumeni, who recorded four saves.

“We were able to capitalize as much as we could…being able to get shots off in the circle really helped.” Junior Midfielder Rylie Wyckoff said after the game. Wyckoff contributed an assist and outstanding ball movement in the win.

Warren Hills, led by head coach Erica Chesniak, now holds a 10-4 overall record, good for second in the Deleware Division and third in the Skyland Conference.

Following Newton’s elimination from the HWS Tournament, the squad will look to refocus as they tackle the final two weeks of what has otherwise been a dominant season led by third-year head coach Ashley Tashijan. The Rams still lead the Freedom Division with a 9-2 record and currently rank fourth in the NJAC.

The Streaks seems to be a fitting name for a Warren Hills squad in the midst of a five game-win streak and will look to tie the ribbon in the Championship game against top-ranked North Hunterdon on Monday, October 14th at 7pm.
